Frequently Asked Questions

Can my almost 4 year old attend? They are very mature and have been at preschool with older kids?
Kiddos must be four to join us at Funderblast. No exceptions. If we find out that your kiddo is under four and you wiggled their birthday on the registration we will ask you to pick up your kiddo, no refund processed.

Why aren't you at Scott Valley Swimming & Tennis Club anymore?
As of 2026 Scott Valley Swimming & Tennis Club decided they wanted to run their own camps. We were sad about it too. However we are adaptable and we are moving that location to Edna Maguire Campus. That location is becoming our hub for some really cool new programming! Sports Camp with Tiger and Theater Camp with Beebs, as well as traditional Funderblast where kids can THRIVE in the loving, magical environment we create.

Can my child swim at Funderblast?
If they are attending Homestead, then yes! There will be daily free play swim time. At our other locations we have water day/water play. (SEE "What Happens if my child cannot swim?). Pool Safety: We take pool time very seriously. We go over the rules and where the kids can go. Any child who wants to be in the big pool must pass a swim test, and if they are not ready or don't wish to, they can choose the "Dry Play" option. We have staff stationed around the entire pool at all times along with certified life guards as well.

Will you be offering Swim Lessons paired with Funderblast?
Yes! Swim lessons will be an add-on to camp, with small group lessons. You can register at the same time you register for camp!

What happens if my child cannot swim?
Children must pass a swim test before they can have free access to the pool, if they do not want to take the test, or cannot swim (or do not pass) they can hang out in the shallow end. If they do not want to swim, we always have a "Dry Play" option!

What about the locations where there is no pool?
We offer "Water Day" - water games and relays. So kids still have the option 1-2 days a week to get in swimsuits and get wet!

Are kids on devices at Funderblast?
NO!!!! We are a device free camp! No Screens, No problem!!!! Our staff are not allowed to use their phones, except to occasionally play age appropriate music. Our staff are PRESENT with the kids!! We do show a movie at our Kids Night Out events, and occasionally and rarely we show a movie if it's raining, however we always have other options available for kids who don't want to watch. On the daily we are device free. With the exception of our Staff Directors who are on their phones in communication with parents.

What is your refund policy?

If you need a refund, please let us know via email two weeks prior to weeks registered for refund (less a 15% processing fee), or you can apply 95% credit towards future Funderblast (with no expiration). If you notify us within two weeks of the start of the session/program you are registered for, we can give you a 50% refund or a 75% credit for future Funderblast (ie the session your child is registered for starts Monday June 20th, and today is Monday June 13th). Once the program is in session, we cannot give refunds or credits for missed days or weeks.

If you need to change the weeks your child will attend, please let our admin staff know at least one week beforehand, we can accommodate IF we have space. Email funderblast(at)outlook(dot)com

What if someone in a household of a camper gets sick?
If they came down with something during the camp session, please let us know and depending on what it is and the severity, we may notify the other campers, or may not. We do not offer refunds or credits for camp missed due to sickness.

Can I move my registration from one site to another?
Yes, if we have space. However, we have a $25 change location fee. And please note that the cost varies at different locations, so there may be a new balance due.

Do you break the kids up into groups? If so, can my child be with their friend?
We do not break the kids up into groups. The Funderblast day is broken down into periods of what we call "Fun Times," where counselors choose the activities they want to offer and kids get to choose what they want to participate in. There is always some sort of active game, an art project, usually a "chill" activity and lots more. The number of options generally depends on how many staff we have that day.

How do you work with older kids?
We have an amazing CIT program for entering 8th & 9th graders!
We have Sports Camp for 8-12 year olds. Fishing Camp for 8-14 year olds, and Theater Camp for 10-14 year olds. If your older kids come to our traditional Funderblast they will have lots of fun activities to participate in, and if they want, they can even become helpers! (depending on their age). We have many older kids who love to continue coming to Funderblast at ages 10, 11, 12... because they know and love Funderblast and want to be a part of creating the magic that was the foundation of their early childhood!

What if my child is new and doesn't know anyone or it's their first time at camp?
We often have new kids each week and the staff are great at helping each child feel welcome, included, and make new friends. The kids at camp know that being a Funderblaster means making new friends! We love welcoming new kids to camp!

How many staff do you have?
We keep a 7:1 ratio, or right around there, noting that some days there is a bit of fluctuation.

Tell me about your staff?
Most of our staff used to be our campers! Most of our Site Directors have been with us 10+ years! We have a thorough interview process, and a VERY thorough training process that is required for each of our staff and is made up of four days of deep training. Been to another camp? Well, come to Funderblast and see the difference! Our staff are present, loving, attentive and FILLED with love and joy!

Do you offer a sibling discount?
No, we don't. But please reach out to us if you need financial assistance.

Do you offer lunch for purchase?
We have a pizza party on Fridays for $15 cash which you can register for at drop off that day. It includes snacks and drinks. Otherwise, you need to pack lunch and snacks.

Got more questions? Give us a call, or send us an email, we are here to be of service!
