What are the hours and ages for Summer Camp? • 9am-4pm, for kids ages 4 to 12, or entering pre-K through 7th Grade.
Do you offer Extended Care? • Only at our Homestead Valley Site - from 8am-6pm. The cost is $18/day or $65/week.
Can my almost 4-year-0ld come? They will be 4 really soon! • No, unfortunately they must be 4 in order to attend Summer Camp, or School Holiday Camp. But stay tuned, we are looking into opening a Pre-School in Fairfax, and they can definitely join us there!!!
How many campers are at Funderblast Summer Camp? • Scott Valley has around 65/day, which is the max capacity for this site. • Homestead Valley has around 45/day, which is the max capacity for this site. • And our Fairfax site is still growing... so stay tuned!
Tell me about the Swimming option? • At either Scott Valley or Homestead Valley the kids have the option to swim every day after lunch. If they do not want to swim, we have dry play options too! • We take pool time very seriously. All of our staff are trained to "pretend there are no lifeguards on duty" because we do not want them ever giving up their responsibility of the campers. That said, there are lifeguards on duty - as well as well trained Funderblast Counselors! Both the lifeguards and our staff are stationed around the pool. Kids must pass a swim test before they can have free access to the pool. At Scott Valley there is a hot tub and a kiddy pool that kids can go in if they cannot pass the swim test, or do not want to take it. At Homestead they can hang out in the shallow end, and are also invited to use floaty devices or pool noodles.
Can my child take swim lessons? • Yes, at either Scott Valley, or at Homestead you have the option of swim lessons. It is a separate program and you would need to register through HVCA or Scott Valley's front desk. Once your child is signed up, our camp staff will escort them to and from lessons.
Why don't the kids get to swim in Fairfax? How do you keep the kids cool? • At Fairfax rather than pool time we have a Water Games Fun Time in the afternoon. Kids are invited to get into bathing suits if they'd like and play water games on the black top - water relays, splish splish splash, and balloon tosses are just a few examples of the crazy wet games our staff come up with! We know it gets hot in Fairfax and we are committed to keeping the kids COOL! We have misters and and misting system set up as well!
Tell me a little more about Tennis Camp at Scott Valley. • Tennis Camp is run by Laurent Lecellier, Scott Valley's Tennis Director. AM Tennis Camp is from 10am-12pm and is for children ages 5-9. PM Tennis Camp is from 1pm-4pm and is for children ages 10-15. You can register for Funderblast and either AM or PM Tennis and we will escort your child to and from.
Do you ever take the kids off campus? • Yes - occasionally we go on nature walks off site. From our Scott Valley Site, sometimes we walk to Edna Maguire to play on the play structure, or occasionally down to the Blithedale shopping center for Scavenger Hunts. From Homestead we walk up to Goat Hill and if we're really committed to Stolte Grove for a picnic! From our Fairfax site we occasionally walk to the library, and sometimes to Fairfax Market for a treasure hunt or treat.
How do you handle allergies? We have had many campers with special needs, medical needs and allergies over the years! On our registration form you can give us all the info necessary, and you are welcome to call us any time to discuss your family's needs before, during, or after the registration process. We strive to be a nut-free camp, and ask all kids to leave nut products at home. If your child carries an epi-pen you can give it to our staff at drop off. We have dealt with many nut allergies over the years, and assure you - your kids are in good hands!!!
What is the Funderblast Refund Policy? • As long as you notify us at least two weeks prior to the start date your children are registered for we can give you a refund less a 15% processing fee. If you notify us within two weeks of the start date we can offer you to switch weeks, as long as there is availability.
